Kevin's Log - August 7, 2000
This is an update on what I am currently working on and what I have recently finished. And a few gripes and complaints as well.

Done: The done list is getting larger while the to do list is growing larger as well. The Desert Arena is finished. After the new screenshots of it came out we noticed some minor bugs and I had to go through a lot to fix them. The process is ironed out and it is ready for its animated maps and the rest of its hazards.

The Powerplant is done. It is waiting on some code to allow the animated geometry in it to work properly and some minor tweaking of the environmental effects and lighting and so on but it is 98.5% finished.

Jaguar, Force, and Pyros all have initial skins and animations and are moving along fine. The city and blade pit arenas have been done for awhile but the city needs a bit of reworking using the new principles and techniques developed on the other arenas. It can be shown now but will look a lot better after the upcoming facelift.

Working on: in the working on pile are two things. Mantis fighter, and the newest arena. I have preliminary layouts of the new arena designated the "Canyon", and the Mantis fighter is going into the flex points check ups and the skinning phase. The Mantis fighter mesh was originally created by the previous artist Andrew Paquette and Rob is still happy with it so I am just gonna do a check up on it and make sure it falls in line with all the animation needs then I have to set it up for mapping and go from there. Should be a relatively fast process. The Gargoyle model is on hold until animation tests prove its value. It would be impossible to warrant hand animating all of gargoyle so if a suitable system is not created to animate its unique limb arrangements it may not make it into the game. The "Canyon" is in layout stage and texture sampling on paper. This is where the general layout of all the components as well as a good amount of the texture patterns are hammered out in order to increase its speed through the modeling process.

The game is moving smoothly. Edgar has implemented a lot of tools recently that are very beneficial to the content creation on my side of the editor. Importing Viewing and updating maps and so forth.

Rob has been hard at work on the gameplay aspects needed for a special event we have deadlined.

The most recent meetings have been about company strategy and the general play dynamic of the game and we are confident that the decisions we have made will do a world of good for 3-d games. We are moving this game more and more toward a new and exciting genre every day.

Stay tuned.

Oh well forget the gripes and complaints. There not worth going into anyway.
