Limited test day!!!! Yeah!
Its all kinds of busy this afternoon testing and talking and putting things together. Got a whole list of things that will happen at release. Got a contest coming together, the limited test coming out, a new job posting going up, Diversions is hooking it up with insane speed.
Feedback is essential, we are keeping a close eye on the limited test forums, particularly the survey about the limited test that will be made availible to players once the limited test is live, and the bug reports in the bug reporting forums. We need the feedback from our players to make this the best game that we possibly can come release day later this year.
Now, a word about dedicated servers.
I know the dedicated server process isnt really documented, so Ill drop a few pointers.

We need the feedback from our players to make this the best game that we possibly can come release day later this year.
Now, a word about dedicated servers.
I know the dedicated server process isnt really documented, so Ill drop a few pointers.
Step 1) Configure the server. Start the game in regular mode, go into options, set your network and gameplay options. We have some official servers we have provided for you thanks to the folks over at ilangame.com. Things are busy, I am excited, the limited test is on its way. Look for some news on the OMF Store coming up soon too, almost finished :) Lots coming together, need to get back to putting some things together now...
Step 2) Return to the main menu, choose "host game" then the game mode you would like, and the maps and options to run the server with.
Step 3) Click next to let it start the game. At this point either close the game normally or use the hotkey control + shift + q to fast-quit.
Step 4) Now we want to create a new shortcut for the game. You may do this one of two ways, you can right click on the menuitem for "OMFBG" or "OMFBG Dedicated Server" and choose "send to desktop". This will create an OMFBG icon on the desktop.
Step 5) Return to the desktop, right click your new shortcut, and choose "Properties". Choose the "shortcut" tab, and put your cursor in the "target" text field. Move to the end of it. After OMFBG.EXE, you may see "-dedicatedserver". If you do not see "-dedicatedserver" go ahead and add it without the quotes.
Step 6) Now the command line will set up the dedicated server. But we want it to start up with the options we chose and without the whole renderer, so we need to tell it that. Move back to the end of the "target" text box and add the following to it without quotes: " -auto_select -no_renderer".
Step 7) Click the "General" tab, change the name of the shortcut to something to reflect the changes, i would suggest "BG Server NoRenderer".
Step 8) Click the "Ok" button. This will update the shortcut, it is now ready to use to start a dedicated server window that will require no intervention, save only the occasional restart.
